Starting “Breaking Bad” at the End

I’ve never been able to watch an entire season of a show over the span of a few days, because my eyes start to cross and I get antsy (I think my limit is three or four hour-long episodes in a row). However, I am finally jumping on the Breaking Bad bandwagon after years of everyone telling me how wonderful it is. I want to catch up before the final episodes start to air this Sunday, which means I need to basically give up on sleep and life to get through it in time.

I just finished the first season, thanks to Netflix. Usually I’m let down by shows that have a ton of buzz, but Breaking Bad is as riveting as everyone said. I already thought Bryan Cranston was an excellent actor, but I was amazed by the performance he gives as Walter White. You feel everything he does; when he’s nervous, I’m nervous, when he’s pissed, so am I. It’s not just Cranston who does a terrific job; everyone – from Aaron Paul as Jesse Pinkman to RJ Mitte as Walter White, Jr. – is exceptional. Right off the bat, the story has me hooked. It’s no secret that someone who is ill is going to have to battle for every dollar coming to them through insurance or other means. Most people don’t immediately turn to drug dealing, but you’ve got to admit, fast money sounds good when you’re in that situation. Since I’m still so early in the series, I know that things are going to change and shift and people will leave and news ones will show up. I’m super excited to see what happens next. For those of you already fans of the show, what is it that you enjoy so much? Is anyone else just starting to watch now, too? Please, no spoilers, but feel free to share your thoughts in the comments section!
